Ontario Lobbies Shrank 21 Percent, and Play'n GO Tripled Its Share Anyway
Ontario got smaller and more concentrated at the same time. Our panel went from 24 casinos to 17, and the tracked game count fell from 1,493 to 1,176. That is a 21 percent drop in visible inventory.
Now look at this: Play'n GO tripled its lobby share while all that was happening. From 3.65 percent in June to 11.53 percent in September. In a shrinking market, that is the story.
The top of the lobby
Pragmatic Play still runs Ontario. It holds 12.72 percent of tracked visibility, up from 10.6, off 82 games. But the gap to second place has almost closed. Play'n GO now sits at 11.53 percent off 127 games, the largest catalogue of any provider in the market.
Here's the thing about Play'n GO's catalogue: 127 games, only 3 of them live. This is a pure RNG slot play. Pragmatic, by contrast, spreads across 82 games with 19 live tables.
Ontario provider share, September 2026
Behind those two, Games Global climbed to 7.05 percent off a 27-game expansion. Then comes the market's sharpest single move.
IGT went from nowhere to fourth
In June, IGT had 2 games and 0.82 percent share in our Ontario panel. In September it has 51 games and 4.69 percent. That is a jump from near-invisible to the fourth most visible provider in the market.
Light & Wonder made a similar leap, from 0.64 percent to 3.17. Playtech more than doubled, from 1.48 to 3.67. The pattern is clear: as lobbies consolidated, the surviving casinos leaned into a smaller set of big-catalogue suppliers.
| Provider | Sep share | Jun share | Games | Share delta |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Play'n GO | 11.53% | 3.65% | 127 | +7.88 |
| IGT | 4.69% | 0.82% | 51 | +3.87 |
| Games Global | 7.05% | 4.09% | 91 | +2.96 |
| Light & Wonder | 3.17% | 0.64% | 36 | +2.53 |
| Playtech | 3.67% | 1.48% | 37 | +2.19 |
| Pragmatic Play | 12.72% | 10.60% | 82 | +2.12 |
Part of the IGT and Play'n GO surge is attribution catching up. More on that in the methodology note. But even after accounting for it, both providers grew real game counts and real shelf presence. Play'n GO added 54 titles. IGT added 49.
The slot shelf is Pragmatic's playground
Pragmatic doesn't just lead on share. It owns the top of the game rankings outright.
Gates of Olympus Super Scatter is the single most visible game in Ontario, a perfect score of 100 across 7 casinos. It is a newcomer, brand new to our panel this snapshot. Book of Dead from Play'n GO holds second at 83, also on 7 lobbies.
| Game | Provider | Score | Casinos |
|---|---|---|---|
| Gates of Olympus Super Scatter | Pragmatic Play | 100 | 7 |
| Book of Dead | Play'n GO | 83 | 7 |
| Eastern Fury | Pragmatic Play | 78 | 5 |
| Cash Eruption | IGT | 77 | 5 |
| Buffalo King Megaways | Pragmatic Play | 70 | 7 |
| Sweet Bonanza | Pragmatic Play | 65 | 4 |
Eight of the top ten games are Pragmatic. And most of the leaders are new arrivals. Eastern Fury, Cash Eruption, Buffalo King Megaways and both Sweet Bonanza variants all landed in the top ten this snapshot.
That refresh came at a cost to the old guard. Big Bass Splash lost 40 points, falling from a score of 70 on 7 casinos to 30 on 4. Cleopatra from IGT dropped 21 points and two lobbies. Starlight Princess 1000 fell off a cliff, from 37 to 2.
What the live table looks like
Live casino barely moved. There were 181 live games in June across 24 casinos, and 186 now across 17. So live density per lobby jumped even as the panel shrank.
Evolution runs the live floor with 81 of its 87 games live, 4.13 percent share overall. If you want to understand how live and RNG split across regulated markets, we broke that down in our European live casino divide analysis. Ontario fits the pattern: one dominant live supplier, a crowded RNG field.
So what
For providers: Ontario just proved that a shrinking panel is not a defensive market. Play'n GO, IGT, Light & Wonder and Playtech all gained share while lobbies closed. The casinos that stayed are stocking deeper catalogues, not thinner ones.
For affiliates and operators buying slot positioning: the top shelf is Pragmatic's Gates and Sweet Bonanza cluster, plus Book of Dead. That is the placement you are bidding against. Everything below score 60 is contested and moving fast.
Methodology note
Two things to flag. First, our Ontario panel shrank from 24 casinos to 17 between snapshots, so some share shifts reflect which lobbies we track, not only provider strategy. Second, several June entries under raw labels like "Play n Go", "CasinoGames::IGTGame" and "CasinoGames::PlayNGoGame" have since been folded into the correct providers. That inflates the Play'n GO and IGT gains somewhat, though both still added real game counts. Unattributed visibility sits at 33.09 percent this snapshot, so treat exact share figures as directional.
The takeaway: fewer lobbies, deeper catalogues, and a two-horse race at the top where there used to be one clear leader.
